Distrust, in Purple is an electronic soundtrack composed for a film of the same name by Harriet Davey, presented as part of the exhibition MEIN KOERPER : MEINE MASCHINE at esc medien kunst labor, Graz. The film explores the growing pressure on young people to conform to digitally filtered beauty standards across social media platforms, and the radical artistic resistance emerging in response. Harriet's otherworldly 3D visual aesthetic interrogates what it means to encounter a face, a body, and a self in an age of algorithmic beautification.
The soundtrack inhabits this uncanny territory through glitchy ASMR textures, sounds that sit at the boundary between pleasure and discomfort, mirroring the film's preoccupation with bodies that are simultaneously familiar and strange.
